Seattle Blues.

Seattle Blues.

[SEATTLE.] On my most recent adventures in Seattle, Washington I went for dinner in the Capitol Hill District where I came across a Jazz and Blues Vocalist that is worth mentioning. She’s also worth going to hear her soulfully sing live at The Kingfish Cafe on every first sunday of the month. Debbie Cavitt and Shirley Lacy were the entertainment for our lovely evening out last night. A surprise to us because we weren’t expecting a live performance when we decided to eat out.

Originally from Dallas, Texas the gospel singing artist is now apart of the Jazz & Blues scene in Seattle, Washington. Cavitt has been active in directing a Children’s Choir and has been the vocalist back-up support for Kenny Loggins on his recent West Coast Tour. Also the voice of King County Metro “I’ll Take You There” commercial. She’s had more other accomplishments and recognition in her music career and I’m blessed to have met and heard her perform.

Walking into the Kingfish Cafe and hearing Cavitt set the mood and tone for the restaurant was so divine. We sat down and the server upgraded us to a different table so that we had the best seats. At the time Cavitt was singing a gospel song that took me away and filled my soul. Her vocals are so powerful and memorable no wonder she’s achieved a lot in her career. Cavitt will tailor the songs she performs for the guest in attendance by observing the crowd in order to guarantee an enjoyable show for everyone. Hearing her cover for Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star for a nine year old to relate and be involved in the show was precious. What surprised me is when she did the cover for the First Time I Ever Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack a song I absolutely love and that’s when Cavitt won my heart!

The Kingfish Cafe is a no reservation spot so be sure to arrive early enough to secure a seat for both a great soul southern dish and enjoy the lovely vocals of Debbie Cavitt and Shirley Lacy.
