[NEW YORK CITY.] What do normal people do after reading a book, well they don’t go designing thirty-nine looks based on their visual version of the book by Alicia Drakes ‘The Beautiful Fall‘ which needs to be read at my book club. After viewing this collection I’m starting to wish I were alive in the 70’s because it seemed to have all the classic designs that are everlasting. The first look that DeVos sent down the runway was a wool tuxedo cape jacket and wool bell pant that had some dracula similarities to Karl Lagerfeld’s dark style. The sophisticated navy multi-floral cloque coat showcased the romanticism that Paris continues to display. When it comes to the autumn season there are certain natural colours that I love to see and DeVos was able to incorporate those exact purple/plum hues into her Pamela Roland collection. The choice of textures like hand-cut velvet sequins and hand-cut feathers brought a more authentic european-style of elegance to New York.
