Mariah Carey – Concert Review.

[LAS VEGAS.] Within seconds of being on stage Ms. Mariah hit them high notes that solidified her as thee reigning queen diva. No matter how you want to slice and dice it – she ruled the world in the 90’s. Any acts that follow are only a mere carbon copy of Mariah Carey’s talent and record breaking success. It’s a no brainer why she’s the target of many critics, yet they cannot understand that a queen lives on and any attacks will be drained out by Carey’s vocal strength.

Right before the show I was out with my first cousins eating and showed up a few minutes after the show began. Which was fine because we were ushered to our seats as Ain’t Too Proud To Beg by TLC was being performed and right when I sat down. The lovely Mariah Carey entered through a door on stage wearing a breathtaking glittery dress that flattered her perfectly thin body. That stunned the entire audience because I wanted to cheer loudly but noticed the entire crowd was dumbfounded so I kept quiet.

Special appreciation to AEG Live for granting StyleHeirs.com press access to the #1 To Infinity show at Caesars Palace. With her first album, Carey explained that she wanted to write her own music, she was very young and didn’t have a song on the radio. The show continued with I Don’t Want To Cry. Of course, I came to see her sing but more importantly to witness her twinkling little fingers fly across the stage like butterflies. It was truly magical with every note she carried and it was the only choreography I expected from her. Since, we were in Caesars Palace we have to do as the Romans and a show performance was incorporated into the mix. As for me the props were a bit pointless except for the Heartbreaker [Ooh and  for the Fantasy] bit that was classic and enjoyed the dialogue on and off the stage. Even parts of the actual music video played on the big screen.

What I thought was a nice touch to the show was when Carey displayed throwback photos of herself from her childhood whilst she sang her rendition of I’ll Be There by The Jackson 5. It was nice to see her bring Trey Lorenz to the stage to assist in singing, when he was her support in the MTV unplugged version back when it originally aired. With Lorenz and the rest of her live band that included a drummer, a pianist, a guitarist and a DJ with her backup singers made it feel like I took a step back in time to the Motown era when the local club was meant for a live performance. The duet also sang a heartfelt single that was originally released with Boyz II Men titled One Sweet Day. It’s always tough for her to perform described Carey as she further mentioned that her and the boyz wrote the song and filmed the music video all in one day. Personally, I cannot wait for that one sweet day to arrive.

It was quite funny to catch all the tea Carey spilt when it came to her talking about all her number one singles. As she introduced her 15th number one single titled We Belong Together – now that’s a song I remember being released it was from The Emancipation of Mimi, that was the third album I had ever purchased. Which is a big deal because I rarely to-this-day buy any complete albums. The final song was Infinity as she wrapped up her show it was a nice little break-up song that made me a little sad because it felt as if she was kicking us out, I didn’t want to leave. Infinity was stuck in my mind for the rest of the night and it just had me wishing I could relive her performance and presence once more.

If you haven’t caught her yet you better prep your butterfly nets and catch her upcoming shows in June, August or September.
