Karl Lagerfeld’s Photo Exhibition in Cuba.

Obra en Proceso / Work in Progress x Karl Lagerfeld.

[HAVANA, CUBA.] The one thing I’d like to know about Karl Lagerfeld is if he’s immune to human emotions, for example – stress. The entire world and Cuba was only expecting a presentation to Chanel’s Cruise 2017 collection. Yet, Lagerfeld surprised us with just another nice touch of luxury in a captivating city of Spanish colonial architecture. Throughout the years of Lagerfeld’s inspiring career as a creative director for many labels -including his own self-named fashion line – he took full control of handling the camera and produced a new perspective, a passion for photography.

The exhibition was held at the Factoría Habana in Havana.

Titled – “Obra en Proceso / Work in Progress.”

Calle O’Reilly, 308
Havana, Cuba
Open from April 28 to May 12, 2016

It took me forever to find it but thankfully the Chanel PR reps helped and gave me better directions since gps was unreliable. If you’re on your way to Cuba before the 12th of May – head to Old Havana, Ask or look for signs that direct you to La Plaza de Armas, once you arrive Calle O’Reilly will take you up the narrow streets to building #308 – you won’t miss it promise. La Plaza de Armas is in a total opposite direction but it’s the only way I was able to find it.

Once you arrive, make sure you go to all three levels that display Lagerfelds photographs plus a tiny room that drapes a few black and white images. Out of all the 200+ shots there were scenic kinds that didn’t really interest me much. I need prints that have models – don’t know why I’m like that but a photograph that is just nature won’t excite me. Perhaps, it’s the glossy fashion magazine obsessed teen in me to be so immature towards outdoorsy still images. However, Lagerfeld did give me what I love and that was french renaissance, few throwback Thursday photos of himself, a lot of high fashion – couture. It was a pleasant surprise and an enjoyable escape from the blazing humid sunlight.

Anyways, I took a few snaps of what stood out to me. Please enjoy and if you’re going to steal my images make sure they’re directed to the source. Don’t be nasty. Have class and I’ll see you when you get a passport. 😛

Ps.: The Cuban government didn’t approve my press credentials for Chanel, so currently waiting approved images to be sent my way…
