Tokuko 1er Vol SS18 – Tokyo.

[TOKYO, JAPAN.] Out of all the shows during Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo, I’ll have to say this was the most memorable and unquestionably a more upbeat showcase this season. In respects to the African culture, I truly believe Maeda represented the South African Bantu nation very well. As I watched the show the thought came to mind that – Africans definitely invented colour. The show had a variety of bright vibrant hues that captured my attention and I couldn’t get enough.

The runway had ample space for the models to do a beautiful zig-zag catwalk, a few models were a little lost but got through it. Each model wore a daishiki headpiece that was filled with so many African patterns, I believe there were just over 50 different looks shown. The first couple looks had these amazing poncho-blanket capes that were to die for! This wasn’t any normal fashion show because Maeda was the mastermind behind all the large animal cutouts, the African bedded neckpieces, the black and white separates. There was something for everyone, including me!
